A number of constituents have written to me this week expressing their anger at the hose pipe ban that has been implemented in Kent by South East Water.
I fully understand their frustration. At a time when excess profits are being dished out to shareholders, residents’ bills are going up and yet local people are being restricted from using the utilities they pay so much for.
The ongoing leaks in the constituency, which are still being dealt with, further reduces significantly the availability of water for households and raises the feelings of anger towards water companies.
I have therefore written to South East Water to convey the frustration of my constituents, and ask what infrastructural changes are being implemented urgently to ensure that hosepipe bans are the very last resort.
